Happy Ping Pongs

This morning, the kids and I are on a flight heading back to Japan. And hopefully from there we can make our way back to Denver. Tim will meet us there in a couple days. It’s hard to believe that it’s been less than a week since we flew back from Kyoto. That was such a dreamy trip. But we’ve been busy during this last week – a full work schedule for me and Tim, a boat day, a soccer day and a school day. Plus time to wash, fold and dry what (I believe) was every article of clothing in our house.

This trip is largely logistics – we’ve got to renew passports, Tim has training and I’ve signed the kids up for standardized testing that is online, but for some inexplicable reason is only accessible if you’re physically in the continental US.

But of course, we’ll get a chance to stay with Grandy and Opa and their new(ish) dog Tig. As far as the kids are concerned, that’s the only reason we’re going. They’re not wrong. Hopefully we can find some fun day trips and maybe do some more ice skating while we’re there. But even if we don’t, we’ll still have fun!

Our appointment for our passports is actually in Seattle. We’re hoping to keep that an extremely quick trip, but hopefully we’ll get a chance to see at least a little bit of the city while we’re there.

I’m feeling a bit like a ping pong right now, but I’m also happy. We’ve set our whole lives up to allow for the flexibility to travel, and it feels like we’re finally getting rhythm (well, to be honest, it feels like getting comfortable with a lack of rhythm and opening ourselves up to the opportunities we find along the way)! I’m very thankful that the kids are willing to roll with it as we figure things out a day at a time.

  1. I love this photo of Amelia and Duke so much! What sweeties and cuties! How did I not notice the bag in Amelia’s hands the first time I read this. YUM!!!! The dried umeboshi are so good!

    1. I accidentally bought the wrong kind. I meant to buy the dried, chewy umeboshi, but what we got was crunchy. Amelia loved them (as with all things umeboshi), but I wasn’t such a big fan.

      1. Wow! So Amelia might be the biggest fan of umeboshi in the world! I think I have come across those crunchy umeboshi at the store and I don’t recall wanting another bag of it either. haha!!! I do love those dried chewy ones too though!!!!
