A bit of quiet
Today has been a delightfully quiet day, just enjoying the beauty of our hotel on the outskirts of Chiang Mai.
Our flight from Seoul was delayed into Chiang Mai, and by the time we got there, Hertz had given away the rental car we reserved. Those are the risks of travel, but that’s a few too many times we’ve had issues with Hertz. We found a Grab Car (the Thai equivalent of Uber), checked in to our room, used Grab again to order in some Thai KFC (the only food available at 1 in the morning) and poured ourselves into bed around 2 AM, nearly 24 hours after we had rousted the kids out of bed to start our travel day. Have I mentioned how thankful I am that our kids are willing to soldier through a travel day like that?
So the idea of a quiet day was particularly appealing. We had an amazing breakfast in the hotel, Tim booked us for massages and the kids enjoyed communing with the cats and dogs who wander the grounds of the hotel. In a little bit we’ll borrow the hotel bicycles to cycle around a lake. We’ll head into the city for the Walking Market for dinner and hopefully have an early bedtime.
Tomorrow is the lantern festival and after that we have reservations for various activities over the next few days. Amelia’s already petitioning for another hotel day. I don’t think she’ll have to twist our arms.
Looks like a really fun trip and a happy family.
So far it has been fun. We feel so lucky!
sa wa dee ka!! KFC for the win!!! Thai KFC would be delicious in my book! Do they make a Thai version? But what a rough long travel day!!! The kids ARE amazing and so are you two! Way to book Thai massages after a day of travel like that. A “hotel day” sounds like you’ve created something wonderful! As always, such awesome photos!
Thai KFC is different – it’s crispier… and spicier! And I think Tim has been able to book a massage nearly every day we’ve been here. I don’t think he ever wants to leave!
what on earth?! Every day?!! THAT’S GOOD LIVING!!! A++++++++++ to Tim! That’s just plain brilliant! And the KFC is crispier and spicier? That sounds like HEAVEN!!!!! I hope you guys don’t have to leave either! You’re already so far away in Guam that you might as well be in Thailand in heaven with crispier and spicier KFC and daily massages!
